Introduction: What Nobody Tells You When You Fall in Love, Get Hired, or Get "Adopted" as a Friend
Nobody walks into your life with a sign on their forehead that says:
"Nice to meet you. I'm here to complicate your existence, and when you finally react, I'm going to say you changed."
That would be too easy.
And assholes never play that fair.
They arrive smiling, offering work, friendship, love, partnerships, or that kind of help that seems heaven-sent and later arrives with an invoice.
And before you know it, you've already opened the door to your home, your business, your heart, or your life.
Nobody distrusts the person who arrives with a friendly face.
That is precisely the business model.
Because the truly dangerous ones almost never make a spectacular entrance.
They earn your trust little by little.
Until one day you discover they've spent months — or years — installed in your life, consuming your peace as if it belonged to them.
And they still have the nerve to ask why you're not the same person anymore.
The answer is simple: living with certain people wears you down, exhausts you, and confuses you.
And if you don't open your eyes in time, you end up doubting yourself while the other person sleeps soundly with a perfectly clean conscience.
The funny thing is, it was almost never a lack of warning signs.
The signs were there.
The problem is that from childhood we're taught to justify the unjustifiable.
"Don't be so suspicious."
"Give them another chance."
"That's just how he is."
"She's been through a lot."
"Don't judge before you know them."
And while you keep handing out opportunities, the other person keeps perfecting the art of taking advantage of them.
Over the years I discovered something nobody ever taught me.
Most people don't change when they gain power.
They simply stop hiding who they were from the beginning.
This book was born because I realized far too late that the biggest problems in my life almost never began with a fight.
They began with a good impression.
It is the natural sequel to Putas historias, putos escritos.
There, I wrote from open wounds.
Here, I write from scars.
And scars have one enormous advantage.
They don't bleed anymore.
But they don't forget either.
I wrote this so you can learn to tell the difference between intuition and guilt.
Between an imperfect person and a dangerous one.
Between someone who makes a mistake... and someone who turns hurting others into a way of life.
We're going to talk about elegant manipulators and shameless ones; bosses who smile while squeezing you dry, friendships that vanish the second you stop being useful, and relatives who love you as long as you never dare to grow beyond them.
If you have ever walked out of a relationship, a job, a friendship, or even a family gathering thinking:
"How the hell did I not see it sooner?"
You're in the right place.
And no.
We're not going to spend these pages crying.
We've cried enough.
Now we're going to laugh.
Because discovering that you were surrounded by assholes hurts.
But discovering they all use exactly the same tricks...
that starts to become funny.
No todos los hijos de puta vienen con advertencia.
But by the time you finish this book, there's a very good chance you'll have learned how to read the fine print that was almost always there...
and that you used to choose to ignore.
